The Assistant Director assists in department activities with a focus on managing internal organizing, develops and oversees the implementation of strategic plans aimed at rebuilding and strengthening local unions and affiliates and collaborates with the Department Director to support the mission of the union, move campaigns and programs, and implement the AFSCME elected leadership’s vision. Position is based in Washington, DC with extensive travel and extended work hours.
