Falcon Edge Capital, a soon to be launched hedge fund, is taking almost 9,000 square feet at the high-end office building 660 Madison Avenue.

The firm, which will begin operations in 2012 according to reports, was formed by celebrated young investment professionals Rick Gerson, formerly of the major firm Blue Ridge and Navroz Udwadia or the well known investment company Eton Park Capital Management. Read More

As the old adage goes, you only have one chance to make a first impression.

For Infor, a business software company whose roster of 70,000 clients – Saab, AB World Foods, Foxwood Casinos, et al – are far more recognizable than they are, moving into New York City’s growing tech market is as good as telling the world you’re ready to play with the big boys.

Infor signed a long-term lease at 641 Avenue of the Americas, an eight-story building owned by Atlas  Capital Group, officials announced earlier today. Read More

EXCLUSIVE: Guggenheim Partners to Relocate 222,000 SF to Madison Avenue

Guggenheim Partners is looking to bring its New York headquarters to 330 Madison Avenue, sources told The Commercial Observer this afternoon.

The investment and financial services firm would take several floors in the base of the Vornado Realty-owned tower. Estimates vary how much space Guggenheim could fill in the building, but several people with knowledge of the firm’s requirements pinned the potential deal at 220,000 square feet or larger. Three Tenants Sign at 681 Fifth Avenue

The owners of 681 Fifth Avenue, a building that already counts aspiring global fashion company Belstaff as a tenant, has brought on three new tenants into its fancy fold, including financial firms Peregrine Financial Group and Altum Capital Management.

Apex Bulk Carriers, an international owner of large shipping vessels, also signed a lease to take up the entire 11th floor. Read More

Tokyo Fashion House Comes to Seventh

Onward Kashiyama! said all involved parties last Thursday, as the Japanese fashion house by that name renewed its lease at 530 Seventh Avenue for three years.

Tokyo-based Onward Kashiyama distributes a number of men’s and women’s apparel lines, including preppy men’s clothier J. Press. The Connecticut-born retailer is perhaps best known for selling sweaters emblazoned with the logo of Skull and Bones, Yale University’s most notorious fraternal organization. Onward also owns top ballet shoe makers Chacott and Freed of London, and designs custom clothes for brands such as Calvin Klein and Sonia Rykiel. Read More
