Costa Concordia: Death Toll Rises

Divers searching the sunken Italian liner Costa Concordia have discovered two more dead bodies. This brings the death toll to 5, with 17 passengers and crew still missing. On a positive note, more survivors have been found as well, including 3 who were rescued over a day after the Concordia foundered Friday night. Read More

Italian Cruise Ship Almost Reenacts ‘Titanic’

One of Italy’s largest ocean liners, the Costa Concordia,  ran aground off the Italian coast Friday night. There were 4231 passengers and crew on board. Witnesses at the scene were quick to draw (perhaps overly) dramatic comparisons, telling  local media the Concordia “looked like the Titanic.” Sky News reported 2 deaths late Friday but Italian paper Il Messaggero reported up to 8 casualties with more wounded and missing. The New York Media Softball League continues to heat up as landlocked editorial staffers channel their sublimated rage into line drives. Two-time champions the Wall Street Journal Capitalists faced off against the Newsweek/Daily Beast team during Week 2 of the league’s exhibition play. In 2010, the only team to slay the mighty Beast was Newsweek. After a tumultuous year in which the properties merged and the editorial reins were handed to Tina Brown, the combined entity can be sure of at least one outcome: a better, tougher softball team.
