(Heidi Metcalfe/Twitter)

The people of North Brooklyn can be an entitled bunch (as a local, this reporter can personally testify to this). After all, the lights, even the Internet stayed on through most of the storm, and property damage was minimal, even for those condos cum punching bags on the waterfront. Still, standing outside in the freezing cold while one packed B62 after another blows by your stop is not a very comforting feeling. Forget getting to work, what about the hypothermia concerns the mayor has been preaching?

But fear not, now that the MTA has gotten to all the other subway lines—which to be totally fair had less flooding and/or carried more riders into the city—the L and the G are now its primary recovery focus, according to MTA spokesman Adam Lisberg.

"The MTA is very much aware of the difficult commute for our customers who usually take the G and L trains, as well as the crowding at the Marcy Avenue station," Mr. Lisberg said in an email. "Getting the G and L running again is our highest priority, and crews are working around the clock on both."

Part of the reason it may still be a few days before service returns is because the damage in the flooded lines remains unknown. "Pumping the water from those flooded tunnels is only the first step," Mr. Lisberg said. "Signals must be fixed or replaced and then tested, among other restorations, before we can safely start service again. We know this is an inconvenience for our customers in the affected neighborhoods, and the entire agency is focused on getting those lines running again."

He also said that the logistics of setting up shuttles for these lines is complicated even when the system is not hamstrung as it currently is, and it would only carry a fraction of the passengers the trains could. And by the time the shuttle is up and running, the trains could be back in some capacity, so better to wait for that, though the agency continues to explore all options to restore service as quickly as possible.

For those in Greenpoint and Williamsburg, The Observer has hit upon at least one possible route into Manhattan that bypasses the B62, which is currently suffering from long lines and overcrowding. Take the B43 to the last stop at Box Street, walk over the Pulaski Bridge, and catch the No. 7 at Vernon/Jackson. You may have to wade through crowds there, too, but at least you'll be inside.

The Daily News City Hall Bureau Chief, Chief Adam Lisberg, is departing for the top editing job at Manhattan Media, publisher of City Hall News and The Capitol. The Daily News confirmed the Gawker item about Lisberg's departure, which had been making the rounds online.

(Lisberg fills the vacancy created when Edward-Isaac Dovere decamped to Politico.)

Lisberg, in a brief interview with me, denied saying the "cheap" quote that appears right after him <del>attributed to him</del> in the Gawker item. "I never spoke with Gawker and would never say that," he said.

With his new job, Lisberg moves from the hard-scrabbled world of tabloid journalism into the roomier pastures of a thoughtful periodical.

City Hall News and The Capitol churn out spacious pages with lots of room for lengthy, investigative stories; just ask the Working Familes Party. (City Hall News, comes out every two weeks; The Capitol, once a month.) The publications also host more public events with newsmakers than practically any other news outlet in New York.

Lisberg, a general assignment reporter with the Daily News before taking the City Hall beat (and Sunday column that goes with it), says he's glad for the change of venues.

"I think one of the strengths of City Hall News and The Capitol is that they're not snarky, they're not slanted," he told me in a brief interview just now. "They don't do cheap shots. It's serious and substantive and they do fair work. There's not enough places for long-form, serious journalism that doesn't necessarily slam one side or the other, but really presents issues."

And in true, feisty, adoration, his long-time colleague, blogger Celeste Katz wrote to wish him well, and to warn Lisberg that she is already planning to "clea[n] your clock!" [fixed]

"Former commissioner Shaun Donovan set big affordable housing goals before President Obama tapped him as secretary of Housing and Urban Development. The timeline for the plan to preserve or build 165,000 new affordable housing units has been extended by a year, and will create fewer new apartments than first thought, but the city says it remains on track.

"Still, it will raise eyebrows in the housing world that Bloomberg is going deep into his own ranks, instead of out into the corporate or non-profit housing world, to lead one of his administration's most challenging agencies -- especially with affordable-housing battles like the 421-a extension and rent law renewal raging in Albany."

"To to establish a connection is one thing. To out the guy is another" said YNN host Liz Benjamin. "Why does it ever matter?" she asked later.

"His relationship to his alleged lover matters," said Daily News City Hall bureau Chief Adam Lisberg. But he noted that the NY Post story "didn't go there." Lisberg said he was "glad the Daily News didn't make that leap."

Lisberg added, "People have accused [Kruger] of being gay. He's denied it. Where do you go without proof otherwise?"

Capital New York's Tom McGeveran made a similar point, saying The Post threw around the eye-catching words, but didn't have as much detail on that part of the story as the New York Times and Daily News, which, McGeveran said did a better job of helping us "understand what the relevance of it all might be."

The other two members of the roundtable - Edward Isaac-Dovere of City Hall News and Milton Allimadi of Black Star News - agreed that the NY Post story didn't do as good a job of driving home the relevance of Kruger's sexuality to the corruption case. The Post, for their part, was not represented on the roundtable.

Poll: Bloomberg Trails Thompson Among Democrats, But Not by Much

The latest poll from Marist may help explain the odd fact that more people voted in the Democratic primaries for public advocate and comptroller than in the race for mayor.

According to Marist, Democrats are almost split between Michael Bloomberg and Bill Thompson, 43 to 46 percent. Overall, Bloomberg is leading Thompson 50 to 39 percent.

The best news for Thompson in the poll is that among likely voters, Bloomberg's lead is less than 10 percent: 52 to 43 percent.

Also, Thompson's apparently soft numbers among African-Americans and Latinos are possible areas for growth.

Thompson leads Bloomberg among African-Americans, 52 to 37 percent, and among Latinos, Bloomberg leads Thompson 48 to 43 percent.

Adam Lisberg jumps into the poll and finds what he says are signs of voter fatigue with Bloomberg. One is that Bloomberg has a higher unfavorability rating, although I'd argue that that kind of goes along with the fact that the mayor is better known than his challenger.

Lisberg notes one other interesting fact: 58 percent of people supporting Thompson "say they support him because they want to vote against Bloomberg."

After Michael Bloomberg's meeting today with Republican leaders, Adam Lisberg of the Daily News asked the mayor's spokesman if the mayor "is still a liberal, and if not, when did that change."
