As the march toward November 6th intensifies, things might get weird. For example: someone apparently fired a shot into President Barack Obama's campaign headquarters in Denver Colorado on Friday afternoon, shattering a large window.

The Denver Post reports the incident occurred around 3 p.m. There were people in the offices at the time but no injuries were reported.

A reporter for Denver's alt-weekly Westword tweeted a photo of the shattered window and his puzzled comment:

“The traffic melted the needle of our live meter,” said Monika Bauerlein, an editor at the liberal magazine, when we reached her this afternoon. “Our metric software just couldn’t keep up.”

“But you know, online publishing metrics are kind of voodoo anyway,” she said.

Ms. Bauerlein noted that the video has gotten 2.4 million views – that they know of.

Though they are unsure of the total number of visitors, the magazine’s website received a record number of hits after they published the footage of Mitt Romney speaking candidly at a fundraiser. Their analytical capacities were overwhelmed by the onslaught of traffic, the web site did not go offline because Mother Jones beefed up their back-end in anticipation of an increase in traffic.

Though they knew the video would do well, Ms. Bauerlein told us it exceeded all of their expectations.

Mr. Romney responded to the video with a hastily-scheduled, late night press conference. Although Ms. Bauerlein said she wasn’t surprised by Mitt Romney’s immediate reaction, she “didn’t expect such a full-throated defense.”

Despite Mother Jones' decidedly liberal leanings, Ms. Bauerlein said she sympathized with the Romney campaign and that she would not hesitate to publish similar video of President Barack Obama.

“If we got a video like this of Obama, we would go to town on it just as hard,” she said, although she noted that these kinds of scoops are pretty rare. In fact, Ms. Bauerlein encouraged tipsters who might have a similar video of the President to send it her way.

“These are the revealing moments about the people who run our country,” she said.

Michele Bachmann's husband, Marcus, knows how to put on a pair of heels. How did we learn this fascinating tidbit about the spouse of the Minnesota Congresswoman and Republican Presidential candidate? We found it on Facebook courtesy of Bachmann's daughter.

Bachmann's staff clearly has some lessons left to learn about the internet. This apparent lack of social media savvy is especially interesting given the recent signs her campaign may be in disarray. We're here to help -- and we don't charge billable hours. You're welcome Michelle Bachmann.

Even though the media has already scrutinized the Facebook profile of Bachmann's eldest son, he and two of her other five biological children have searchable pages on the social networking site. In March, The Daily Beast published details gleaned from the Facebook profile of Lucas Bachmann, who it described as one of Bachmann's "closest advisers." The Beast noted two of Lucas' three selected interests on Facebook; "India" and conservative thinker "William F. Buckley" to make the point that Lucas' "political hero" is "decidedly un-Bachmann-like."

Bachmann shouldn't have been blindsided by a media outlet using her son's Facebook to write an unflattering article about her. In this day and age, campaign advisers should be schooled in the damage that can be done from an uncalculated quote or, worse yet, an indiscreet photo posted on a social media site.

Everyone should be free enjoy the unique pleasures of poking, stalking and playing mindless games of Farmville that come with unrestricted membership on a social media site, but we live in an unfair world. For better or worse, the families of presidential candidates should be coached to expect this level of scrutiny during a White House run and taught how to avoid it. Despite their modern media lesson from the Daily Beast, her children still haven't been taught to maintain their privacy online. Someone on Bachmann's staff dropped the ball here.

Michelle Bachmann's advisor and son Lucas Bachmann, guns blazing.

The pictures and details visible on the Facebook pages of the Bachmann children are relatively harmless. They're certainly not a social media faux pas along the lines of Anthony Weiner's infamous naked Twitter pictures, Willow Palin's homophobic tirade or Oregon Rep. David Wu's crazypants emails, but these glimpses into Bachmann's home life are unseemly cracks in the managed public facade that all politicians should seek to project on the campaign trail.

Lucas Bachmann's Facebook profile is still searchable. Along with his interest in Buckley and India there's a picture of him standing in front of a poster of Andy Warhol's "Triple Elvis" print wearing what appears to be a Johnny Cash t-shirt. Curious onlookers can contact him or view his "basic information," where he describes himself as "Trying to figure out my life after two years of being on pause!" That's hardly the kind of image a top advisor to a presidential candidate should be conveying a little over a year before the election.

Marcus Bachmann helps his daughter get ready for the prom in 2008.

Visitors to Lucas' Facebook profile can also see his list of friends, which includes the pages of his brother, Harrison, and his sister, Elisa. Those pages can be used to contact Elisa and Harrison, and also be used to view private Bachmann family photos. Elisa's page includes a publicly visible photo album of her senior prom in 2008 with a rather awkward picture of Marcus Bachmann and her sister kneeling at her feet to help her put on her heels.

"How many Bachmanns does it take to put a shoe on?" asks Elisa's caption for the prom picture. A fascinating question indeed!

The occasion was a debate on Piers Morgan Tonight on Monday night over President Barack Obama's energy and Libya policy, and towards the end things got a little heated between the Queens congressman and the Manhattan real estate developer and (potential) presidential candidate.

Asked by Morgan if the U.S. should go into Syria, Weiner responded, "I am not president yet, although I think I have as much chance as Donald Trump does."

When Trump was asked to respond, he said, "If I were polling like Anthony were polling I would drop out immediately."

Shot back Weiner, "You will be dropping out soon enough, Donald, we both know it."

Asked if he would fact be dropping out, Trump cited polls that he said showed him doing very well, and added "It's too bad for him...I look at his polls in New York running for mayor he does very poorly, so I just wish him a lot of luck."

Responded Weiner, "I am the front-runner big guy, I am not sure you are even going to be around at the end."

Trump then told the congressman that if he wins, a lot of people would flee New York.

Earlier this week we took note of a Roll Call report which said that Republican Randy Altschuler is exploring a re-match against incumbent Tim Bishop for a Suffolk County congressional seat.

This morning we received a fundraising solicitation from Bishop with the subject line "Deja Vu All Over Again," which uses the prospect of an Altschuler redux to rally the troops. The email makes note of Altschuler's seemingly endless resources and attempts to tie him to some of the austerity measures that the House G.O.P. is proposing.

Writes the Bishop campaign:

Today, we learned from the newspaper Roll Call that my 2010 opponent, Randy Altschuler, will be visiting Washington, DC this week in preparation to run against me in 2012. While it is very difficult to go head-to-head with an outsourcing millionaire with bottomless pockets, I know that I can count on supporters like you. CLICK HERE TO SHOW YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT

Your support right now is particularly critical because we are approximately one week from the important March 31 FEC deadline. This will be the first time for Randy and his friends in Washington to assess how aggressive a campaign we intend to wage in 2012.

Meanwhile, if we needed further proof that these two teams are already in war-room mode, Altschuler campaign aide Chris Maloney sends along the following statement, knocking Bishop for coming out swinging so early:

"As if one failed stimulus wasn't enough, it's shocking that Tim Bishop's latest prescription for job creation in Suffolk County is urging taxpayers to donate to his endangered political campaign. It's the height of hypocrisy for Tim to bill himself as being concerned about job loss, while in the same breath he attacks Randy Altschuler, a proven American job creator who has employed hundreds of New Yorkers.

"Voters didn't send Tim Bishop to Washington to be a complaining campaigner for the next two years; they elected a congressman to save their jobs. If the past three months and this fundraising ploy are any indication, it is increasingly clear that the only job Tim Bishop cares about saving is his own."

Dear Friend,

As Yogi Berra would say, "It's deja vu all over again." Today, we learned from the newspaper Roll Call that my 2010 opponent, Randy Altschuler, will be visiting Washington, DC this week in preparation to run against me in 2012.

We need to put up a very strong number to make it perfectly clear to them, that once again, Suffolk County is not for sale.

I believe the choice will be clearer than ever in 2012. Throughout much of the campaign, Randy would talk vaguely about "reducing spending" but refused to say exactly how he would do so. At a Meet the Candidates night in Hampton Bays, he responded to one question about specific cuts by saying, "That's a loaded question, as we call it," before launching into a diatribe about earmarks, which, by the way, we no longer have. When I pressed him on the issue, he responded, "I think we all know that the Congressman has no real deep interest in hearing what spending cuts I propose. What Congressman Bishop will do with that is put it into his campaign, as he's done on everything.

Now that we have seen the actions of the House Republican majority which Randy aspires to be a member of, it is clear why he refused to answer the question. The House Republican budget hurts Suffolk County families in almost more ways than I can count. The budget eliminates approximately 1,000 jobs at Brookhaven National Laboratory and undermine America's scientific leadership; slashes Pell Grants by $5.6 billion which will reduce grants by at least 15 percent for over 9 million students; eliminates family planning and attacks the right to choose; eliminates funding to help homeless veterans; blocks EPA enforcement of clean air and clean water laws; and so much more.

By the way, Randy's right. I will absolutely talk in my next campaign about the fact that House Republicans want to put 1,000 Brookhaven National Lab employees out of work. In fact, I'm writing you today to help give me the resources to do so. CLICK HERE TO SEND YOUR DONATION TODAY

Dear Friend,

As Yogi Berra would say, "It's deja vu all over again." Today, we learned from the newspaper Roll Call that my 2010 opponent, Randy Altschuler, will be visiting Washington, DC this week in preparation to run against me in 2012.

CLICK HERE TO SEND YOUR DONATION TODAY

for your continued friendship and support and I look forward to seeing you out on the road as I continue to talk in communities throughout our district about the need to make responsible choices.

The 2012 election is more than a year and a half away, but out in Suffolk County the potential rivals for the Congressional seat are going at each other like its the last 72 before the polls close.

Yesterday we made note of the fact that businessman Randy Altschuler is gearing up for another run for Congress against incumbent Democrat Tim Bishop, and then today reported how the Bishop camp is already throwing potshots.

Now Altschuler is out with some potshots of his own, with a spokesman sending along a statement accusing Bishop of a.) playing politics, b.) going negative and c.) doing the bidding of Nancy Pelosi.

Says Altschuler spokesman Christopher Maloney:

"It's unfortunate for taxpayers and families in Suffolk County that Tim Bishop's lack of seniority in Congress affords him and his staff plenty of down time to continue baseless personal attacks against Randy Altschuler.

"The constituents who pay their salaries remain hopeful they will wake up, step out of campaign mode, and fight to protect jobs and control the unrestrained deficit spending which they have championed during their eight years in Washington.

"It's no surprise that Tim Bishop and his flacks want to spend today, the one year anniversary of his vote to pass Obamacare, talking about anything but his blind loyalty to Nancy Pelosi."

Maloney took issue with Bishop's spokesman Jon Schneider's assertion that Bishop has an advantage since 2010 was such a Republican year, arguing that it remains unclear what kind of year 2012 will be, and that the Republican nominee could be boosted by the lack of a primary challenge.

Yesterday, G.O.P county chairman John Jay LaValle told The Politicker that it was the party's goal to get behind a candidate early on.
