INT. MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY — EVENING CINDY ADAMS is standing with a friend among a crowd of hundreds, surveying the black-tie attendees at the PEN Literary Gala, who include Philip Roth, Zadie Smith, Jay McInerney, Jennifer Egan, Candace Bushnell, Joanna Coles and Peter Godwin.
Ms. Adams is wearing a splashy, graphic print jacket and a bun atop her head. A stream of partygoers greet her. She is approached by the Transom and asked how to work a room.

Cindy Adams’s New York Post column today was filed from Sydney, where the gossip columnist has headed on vacation. Ms. Adams, who will be unaffected by Hurricane Sandy and whose column does not mention it, has found plenty to complain about, though:
If 1967 was the summer of love, 2012 might go down in the history books as the summer of snark. Just last week, Cindy Adams paid tribute to the departed Helen Gurley Brown by calling her chintzy and cheap, kvetching in The New York Post that the Cosmo editor and lipstick feminist once made her go all the way downtown to introduce her at a function, only to send a thank-you gift in a brown paper bag. (The gift, by the way, was a stuffed frog. If there was a coded message there, Ms. Adams clearly missed it while swiping at Ms. Brown’s old Chanel suits.)
ALBANY—Cindy Adams was the only reporter to attend David Paterson’s holiday fund-raiser yesterday, and she evidently made it to the VIP after-party.
A sharp reader notes that her column today contains this account of a conversation with Paterson, at Cru:

ALBANY—At the end of his remarks at a holiday fund-raiser last night, David Paterson made a simple declaration: “I am running for governor in 2010.”
“If it doesn’t work out, I’m going to go on The View. They need a little affirmative action on The View,” Paterson said to laughs, according to one Read More
Last week, New York Post gossip columnist Cindy Adams hosted a ladies’ luncheon at her Upper East Side apartment in honor of New York’s first lady, Michelle Paterson. This was the same luncheon at which Ms. Paterson told Ms. Adams that her husband was “hurt” about the White House wanting to muscle him out of Read More
I guess David Paterson wasn’t kidding when he lamented his rise to governor. “I did not sign up for this,” was quite the understatement, according to some quotes from his wife, Michelle, in Cindy Adams’ column this morning.
“When this happened with Spitzer and the job suddenly fell to David, the first words Read More
This fall, New York Post celebrity gossip chronicler Cindy Adams will debut a one-woman show, Only in New York, in her palatial Park Avenue penthouse, formerly the home of tobacco heiress Doris Duke. Gossip writer Paula Froelich opened the front door to her one-bedroom Soho apartment on a recent evening, wearing a flattering emerald dress with puffy sleeves and woolly, moccasin-style slippers.
She had one hour, she warned, before she had to run out and meet Daily Candy founder Dany Levy and socialite Gigi Read More
Daily News: There are exceptions to every rule. Today, I’d like to address the issue, which we’ve brought up before, of coming in close on faces. It’s almost always a good idea! But this morning’s Daily News takes things a bit far. It’s obvious enough why they chose this picture: the city’s new Archbishop, Timothy Read More
