Report: Glenn Beck Joins Fox News

Politico's Michael Calderone is reporting that Glenn Beck is jumping from CNN Headline News to Fox News.

Mr. Beck has hosted a daily show on the network since 2006. For Fox, he will be anchoring a 5 P.M. weekday show and a weekend program.

Mr. Calderone quotes a CNN spokesperson as saying, "Glenn has been a terrific employee and colleague to many of us at CNN... We wish him well."

In what might someday be studied in public-relations classes as an example of why not to make public statements when you're still suffering from the aftermath of a bad hospitalization and apparently shaking off a heavy dose of painkillers, CNN Headline News star Glenn Beck has just released a video on YouTube.

In the vid, Mr. Beck, unshaven and emotionally on edge, speaks directly to the camera for more than seven long minutes about his recent surgery (for what? it's unclear), how it went awry, and how he was left on the brink of suicide as a result. Mr. Beck, while tearing up at times, called the weekend hospitalization "one of the darkest moments" of his life, spoke of "drug-induced" visions, and said the experience could have been a scene from the horror movie Saw.

"By Saturday night, if they would have come into the room with a handgun and said, 'okay we can give you some more medication or we can give you this handgun, and you can go ahead and blow your brains out' I would have honestly taken a handgun at that point and ended it," said Mr. Beck.

The Media Mob wishes Mr. Beck a speedy recovery, complete with lots of chicken noodle soup and, um, no more YouTube videos.

Rightwing Talker Beck to Get Big Bucks From Premiere Radio Networks

According to The New York Times, CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck is about to watch his net worth skyrocket—thanks to his continued popularity in talk radio.

"Premiere Radio Networks, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications, is expected to announce today that it is extending Mr. Beck's contract," the paper reported today. "Two sources with knowledge of the deal said it was valued at $50 million over five years, through a combination of salary and profit-sharing from syndication."

At the same time, Mr. Beck is continuing to enjoy success in television. Last week, Ken Jautz of CNN Headline News told TVNewser that Mr. Beck's show had its best month ever in October, and is up 50 percent in year-to-date viewers. As of tonight, Mr. Beck will face fresh competition from within his own network when CNN moves Lou Dobbs Tonight, CNN's second highest rated show, to 7 PM.
