Steve Jobs emphasized his interest in helping newspapers make money again while speaking at The Wall Street Journal's All Things Digital conference.

"I don't want to see us descend into a nation of bloggers," Mr. Jobs said during an onstage interview yesterday.

"I think we need editorial oversight now more than ever. Anything we can do to help newspapers find new ways of expression that will help them get paid, I am all for."

Mr. Jobs has been urging the big players in the media industry to offer consumers their content at lower prices on digital platforms.

“What we have to do is figure out a way to get people to start paying for this hard-earned content.”

“The market right now is set up to be far more responsive to consumer demand for what prices need to be than it was six months ago,” Mr. Jobs said. “Prices may go up in near future, but if consumers want the prices to be less, they will be far more responsive to those signals then they were six months ago.”

Mr. Jobs sold more than two million of his iPads in the first 60 days after the product became available.
