Téa Leoni picked up the Riverside Drive pad for $5.12 million—not exactly a tower heist.

Actor and actress couple David Duchovny and Téa Leoni haven't offloaded their old New York City triplex yet (though they've reportedly been broken up for almost two years), but Ms. Leoni has already moved on: the Deep Impact star just picked up a three-bedroom combo spread at 190 Riverside Drive.

The eighth-floor corner unit is decked out in a thoroughly traditional (dare we say geriatric?) style, with "exquisite detailed moldings, stained glass doors, original fireplace mantels, bay windows and coffered ceilings"—fancifully-coffered ceilings beyond the standard square patterns, by the looks of it—according the listing description.

Corcoran brokers Deanna Kory and Carlin Wright had the listing and, we're guessing, their fill of the hard candies that the sellers almost certainly kept in a little dish on the coffee table.

The unit only has two true bedrooms—that is, rooms with en-suite bathrooms and walk-in closets—but if Ms. Leoni's kids or guests are willing to slum it and walk through the hallway to reach the bathroom, the home can accommodate up to four  bedrooms.

Though the décor in Ms. Leoni's new apartment is sure to be cleared out before the actress takes up residence, we can see why she was drawn to the apartment. It's very much in line with Ms. Leoni and Mr. Duchovny's Upper East Side co-op maisonette, replete with overstuffed leather chairs, wooden cabinetry and kitchen chairs that look straight out of a 1950s diner. They are asking $9.25 million for their old first-floor triplex—a true maisonette, in that it has a separate street entrance.

For her new Upper West Side digs, though, Ms. Leoni paid $5.12 million, a bit below the $5.25 million asking price, to sellers Nathan Berry and Ceara Donnelley. Ms. Leoni may be a movie star, after all, but much like a mere mortal, her post-breakup pad is more modest than the married spread. Stars, they're just like us!

Ellis, the precocious 15-year-old product of a broken marriage, played by appealing newcomer Graham Phillips, is the hero of Goats, an offbeat but nonetheless pedestrian ensemble piece directed by Christopher Neil from a screenplay by Mark Jude Poirier based on his own coming-of-age novel of the same title. Ellis lives in Tucson with his bohemian mother Wendy (the excellent Vera Farmiga), her Speedo-wearing bisexual boyfriend Bennet (Justin Kirk), and a bearded, pot-growing, goat-breeding hippie and part-time botanist named Goat Man (a laughably miscast David Duchovny, looking like a Jesus freak on acid) who feeds Ellis with a mind-blowing supply of drugs and roams the cacti with his two pet goats, Lance and Frieda. Then, in a mind-blowing change of culture and climate, Ellis gets shipped off to a New England prep school where he is strong-armed into joining the track team, and falls in love with a dining-hall waitress named Minnie (Dakota Johnson) who services the entire student body sexually for extra income. He is also carted off to Washington, D.C. for a reunion visit with his rich preppie father (Ty Burrell) and his new wife (Keri Russell), both of whom turn out to be nicer than his stoned mother led him to believe. Shuttled back and forth between the Arizona deserts and the East Coast snowfalls, Ellis has an unconventional upbringing, exposed to the foibles of crazy adult influences. It’s not always as interesting as it sounds.

His mom lives a life of spiritual searching, Hopi Indian seminars, tofu turkey and shaman rituals, financed by her ex-husband’s trust fund—all cover-ups for escapism and misery. His dad is self-absorbed, with a young wife and a new baby. Goat Man, who is really an Irish pothead named Stephen, exposes the kid to drug smuggling. At school, Ellis gets mugged, robbed and kicked in the testicles. The movie shows Ellis inching his way from adolescence into young adulthood with a structure of too many events and nothing happening of any consequence. By the time Duchovny shaves off enough hair to revitalize an entire baldness clinic, you wonder what it’s all about anyway. Ms. Farmiga is the only one who seems to be having any fun, as an aging flower child stuck in an earlier decade and addicted to healing vortex workshops and primal screams. Mellow, but very much a work in progress, Goats has a bland but overcrowded menu that could benefit from a little feta.

When Salon published a profile of Mr. Tosches in 1999, it described the writer's penchant for leopard-printed loafers, smoking two brands of cigarettes at all times, and dining at Da Silvano on a daily basis. In the piece, Mr. Tosches also talks about not caring about what goes on in Hollywood, despite it being the place where many of his works were planned on being adapted. (Dino, for example, was supposed to be directed by Martin Scorsese, but ultimately fell through.)

This week, the Daily Transom discovered a little item that Mr. Tosches wrote for Playboy (in the shape of a phallus) on the topic of sex addiction, responding to the recent revelation that Hollywood actor David Duchovny was one of the afflicted.

Mr. Tosches recounts the time when he was 12 years old and first dealing with what some might describe as sex addiction:

That day Mr. Tosches received a lengthy prescription of prayer and swore never to tell the truth, apparently until now. In the piece he describes his fascination with various online porn sites and writes off sex addiction as another invented disease like vasomotor rhinitis (a.k.a. runny nose) or obesity.

Mr. Tosches writes:

Sadly, the article was released too prematurely (tee-hee) to include this month's poster boy for self-love, David Duchovny.

But you probably already know about the perils of using internet porn if you read David Amsden's October 13, 2003 story in New York Magazine. Or Naomi Wolf's essay accompanying that piece.
