Howard Stern Goes Soft for Dunham in Old Age

Last week, Howard Stern was calling Lena Dunham a "talentless little fat chick" on his Sirius Radio show. Actually, to be more specific, he called her "a little fat girl who kinda looks like Jonah Hill(...)keeps taking her clothes off, and it kind of feels like rape." Which, honestly, is the sentiment we'd expect from the wordsmith once he began musing on last season's hot topic issue of Girls/Lena Dunham's BMI.

He also said a lot of other, nasty things about he could tell Dunham had written the show "because she's such a camera hog that the other characters barely are on." He really didn't sound like the world's biggest fan.

But that was then, and now is now, and in between Mr. Stern had time to rewatch all the show's weird sex scenes. In a complete 180 yesterday he left Linda Stassi territory, publicly apologized for his comments, and asked Ms. Dunham for an interview.

Because it turns out that he didn't meant to call her talentless or fat. He meant super-talented and funny.

Yesterday Stern explained his comments: "I felt bad because I really do love the show Girls, and enjoy it, and I admire the girl who writes it. It makes me feel bad, and I think she is getting the impression that I somehow think she's just a talentless little fat chick." Wait, where ever would she get that impression, Howard?

Stern "clarifies" comments:

Taking all of this in as good form as ever, Ms. Dunham told Letterman Friday that she is a Howard Stern fan, and even found part of his riff amusing. Referencing the shock-jock's comments, "Congrats to her (Dunham). It's so hard for little fat chicks to get anything going these days," she told audiences, "I want my gravestone to say, 'She was a little fat chick and she got it going."

So...chances of Lena Dunham showing up for an interview about weird sex on Howard Stern? We're thinking like 100/1. Or 1/100, if NPR has called dibs on her radio presence for 2013.

In other news, Girls Season 2 is back after Ms. Dunhum won two Golden Globes for Best Actress in a TV Comedy or Musical and Best TV Show--Comedy or Musical. We're still not sure whether all the letters in the title need to be capped or what.

Jones participated in were part of a normal religious vlog, here's the pastor who started the Chronicles, Christopher Hudson, talking about Jay-Z being a Freemason with demonic links, Obama's ties to Hitler, and how NYC's current gas crisis will lead to us eating each other, Walking Dead-style.

(To be fair, a lot of people believe Jay-Z is part of a secret society and has a close relationship to Satan, which is why he raps in "Murder to Excellence" with Kanye, "The new black elite, they say my black card bear the mark of the beast.")

- The best present for the holidays? Ben Savage tweeting last night that he and Danielle Fishel are all in for a Boy Meets World sequel for Disney, titled Girl Meets World.

- Brad Pitt is not ashamed of that ridiculous Chanel No. 5 ad. In fact, he kind of liked how weird it was.

- Nicki Minaj is stirring up more trouble on American Idol, except this time she's gone after Steven Tyler, calling the Aerosmith singer racist for saying that she would have eliminated Bob Dylan from the show had he been auditioning. Um, to be fair? Dylan never would have made it past the first round, no matter who was judging. Though we're not sure if that makes Tyler racist.

-Neil Patrick Harris has a new web show, "Neil's Puppet Dreams." No, for real. And it is amazing.

Bethenny Frankel Not Getting Another TV Show; Nation Mourns

Bethenny Frankel, one of the few Real Housewives of New York that was actually tolerable (until her subsequent spin-offs like Bethenny Getting Married? and Bethenny Ever After) will not be getting her own talk show after all.

Ms. Frankel left RHONY in 2010, before the axe came down on three of her other frenemies. According to Page Six, negotiations fizzled out for a syndicated talk show format as a platform for Frankel, and she has been dropped by Telepictures. Which is odd, because two days ago, The Huffington Post reported that the deal was done and Telepictures "couldn’t be happier with the pilot Bethenny shot." This would have been Ms. Frankel's first foray outside the Bravo family.

But there is a plus side! Unlike some of her former costars, Ms. Frankel has kept in close ties with Bravo's EVP of talent and new 5-times-a-week talk show host Andy Cohen...whose show Watch What Happens Live actually sounds a lot like Ms. Frankel's own concept, except that Ms. Frankel's would involve more Oprah-esque advice-giving.

Maybe Mr. Cohen will find a place for Ms. Frankel as the morning bookend to his nighttime show. Or will put his former star on and give her a little advice...about career management. (Not that the Skinny Girl entrepreneur needs it.)
