Here's another name to add to the list of candidates for state comptroller.

New York City's Finance Commissioner Martha Stark. Since she joined the Bloomberg administration in 2002, she's quietly been running a 2,300-person office looking after the city's $18 billion in tax revenue and another $1 billion worth of city property. (The numbers are according to her official bio.)

In an email exchange yesterday, her spokesman Owen Stone, told me, "She finds it a very intriguing position and believes she is a uniquely qualified candidate given her experience as Finance Commissioner and as chair of the City's two largest pension systems."

She is, needless to say, not a state legislator.
