The Soup Nazi at the Seinfeld Food Truck (Pix11)

In case you missed it, the Seinfeld Food Truck--part of the Jerry Seinfeld Nostalgic Brand Experience™--was in New York today as part of its regional tour across the country. Parked outside of the PIX11 Studio (and baring the local station's logo on the truck) in Midtown from 12-2 p.m.

The mobile food station served real Seinfeld-inspired food, like muffin tops (Episode: The Muffin Tops), junior mints (Episode: The Junior Mint), black and white cookies (Episode: The Dinner Party), Twix (Episode: The Dealership), Snapple (Episode: The Visa), and bottled water (not from any episode.) Of course, the pièce de résistance was mulligatawny soup Soup (Episode: The Soup Nazi), served by Larry Thomas, the actor who played the iconic chef on the show.

You'd think that people wouldn't stand in line to receive food that the show advertised as vomit-inducing (the cookie), accidentally dropped inside an exposed body cavity during surgery (Junior Mint), or served by a fascist, but you know how fans are.

They are insane.

It must be something about having our cable indiscriminately taken away from us: we're all back to watching re-runs of Larry David's seminal show and getting misty-eyed.

First there was this week's caption contest from The New Yorker, which ripped off Elaine's idea from a 1998 episode. It involves a pig going up to a complaint box, and yes, Kramer's answer is definitely the winner: "My wife is a slut."

But that wasn't the end of Seinfeld-ism for the week. Yesterday, a new web series from Jerry Seinfeld, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The first episode featured the comedian and Larry David driving around, talking about pancakes and hot lunches. Definitely worth a watch, especially if you are David Remnick and are finally catching up on the last two decades of television.

Just how greatly, you ask? Conveniently, the Curb Your Enthusiasm star/subject was granted an op-ed in The New York Times where he riffed for a few hundred words on how great it is that he's rich and reaping the benefits of the Democrats' inability to get rid of the Bush-era policy. The satire is evident from the first few words, and the entire thing is a hoot.

When I get home, thanks to the great compromise, the first thing I’m going to do is get a flat-screen TV. Finally I can throw out the 20-inch Zenith with the rabbit ears, the one I inherited from my parents when they died. The reception is terrible and I’m getting tired of going out to bars every time I want to watch a game. Last month, the antenna broke and I tried to improvise one with a metal hanger and wound up cutting myself. Every time I see that scab, I say to myself, “If, God willing, those Bush tax cuts are restored, I’m going to buy a new TV.” Well, guess what? They have been!

Here are the other things that Larry David, rich man getting richer, will do with the money that he's eviscerating Barack Obama for giving him: first class tickets to Cabo for him and his kids; an extra hotel room once they get there; granola instead of Special K; and blueberries.

"Did you know they have a lot of antioxidants, which prevent cancer?" he wrote. "Cancer! This tax cut just might save my life. Who said Republicans don’t support health care?"

And who knew Larry David is already a more funny and effective columnist than Maureen Dowd?
