John Derbyshire, Freed From Shackles of Political Correctness, Can’t Even Do Racism Right

Remember our friend John Derbyshire, formerly of the National Review? He’s the guy who wrote an article on Taki’s Mag about talking to your children about black people, which started out sort of funny in that hipster racist way, but then quickly veered off into a danger zone of bizarrely arbitrary stereotypes. (To paraphrase: “Black People Day at Six Flags is the worst!”)

Well, ever since he was fired by Rich Lowry for going over the implied racism quota set by the Review, Mr. Derbyshire has been keeping himself busy. Writing about how White Supremacy has a bad rap, going to his radiology checkups, brushing up on his Smithsonian back issues…he’s kind of your granddad, isn’t he?

Mr. Derbyshire finally found a topic he can really sink his politically incorrect teeth into: U.S. cities that pretend that they’re more racially diverse than they are. Two weeks ago, Phil Mushnick, a respected veteran sports writer for The New York Post, published a column about the Brooklyn Nets’ new brand identity, as designed with the help of Jay-Z. John Derbyshire Thinks White Supremacy is Pretty Great, Historically Speaking

John Derbyshire, whom you might remember as the guy too blatantly racist for the much more subtly racist National Review–has found himself a new gig. Besides continuing his writing for Taki’s Mag (where his article “The Talk: The NonBlack Version” ended his tenure at the Review), the British journalist is now a columnist for VDare.com, an anti-immigration website that the Southern Poverty Law Center has described as a “hate group.”

Taki’s Mag Founder Speaks Out on John Derbyshire Race Controversy: ‘It’s Nice to Be Light Sometimes’

“I don’t think he did anything that extraordinary, to point out what Blacks themselves point out,” Taki Theodoracopulos told The Observer over the phone this afternoon.

He was talking about National Review journalist John Derbyshire’s controversial article, “The Talk: Nonblack Version,” written for Mr. Theodoracopulos’ namesake webzine, Taki’s Mag.

Within 72 hours after its publication, the Review announced that it was “parting ways” with Mr. Derbyshire, saying that the author was using the conservative publication’s name to “to get more oxygen for views with which we’d never associate ourselves otherwise.” National Review‘s Editor-In-Chief Rich Lowry said the piece “lurches from the politically incorrect to the nasty and indefensible.”

Mr. Theodoracopulos, who called himself a “great fan” of Taki’s Mag (which is actually edited by his daughter, while dad plays the role of curator, pulling in big names from his thick Rolodex), had his own opinion of why Mr. Derbyshire was let go. Read More

'National Review' shocked that one of their writers is politically incorrect

National Review ‘Parted Ways’ with John Derbyshire for Being Racist in a Publication Other Than Its Own

We hope Taki’s Magazine pays as much money as print publications. John Derbyshire, the British journalist and author who recently wrote an article entitled “The Talk: Nonblack Version” for Taki Theodoracopulos‘ “webzine,” is out of his day job. The conservative National Review “parted ways” with Mr. Derbyshire following The Observer‘s discovery of his piece for niche website which included tips like:

“(10c) If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date (neglect of that one got me the closest I have ever gotten to death by gunshot).

Gawker and other publications soon caught wind of the story, and in less that 48 hours he was relieved of his position for being so blatantly politically incorrect in someone else’s publication, instead of just subtly implying that African-Americans are destroying this country (as is the in-house style of the Review).
