Community’s Alison Brie’s Band Covers White Stripes, With Draco Malfoy on Guitar [Video]

We imagine that anyone who attended The Girls show in L.A. earlier this week was reminded of that Kurt Vonnegut quote from Slaughterhouse-Five: “Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt, and there was no soft-shoeing from Daniel Radcliffe, thank God.” Community and Mad Men star Alison Brie–also known as being the most perfect actress and real-life crush in the entire world–told Jon Stewart recently that her cover band’s sound is “classic rock and some country. We do a little Hall & Oates, a little Springsteen, some Dolly Parton …”

And some White Stripes, apparently. Though Alison Brie and the Girls is formally comprised of all women (d’uh), Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) joined the ladies on stage to perform “We’re Going to Be Friends,” a single from White Blood Cells. Read More

David Bowie and Tilda Swinton Prove They Are Two Distinct, Creepy People in New Music Video

David Bowie’s new album, The Next Day (which Gothamist reminds us is his first studio recording in a decade), will drop on March 12th. That’s so soon! But in the meantime to hold you over, here’s an incredible Lynchian short film for his single “The Stars (Are Out Tonight),” in which he and Tilda Swinton play a middle-aged married couple who are visited by the creepy, Lady Gaga-esque ghosts of Bowie’s past. Game of Thrones Season 3 Trailer: There Be Teenage Dragons in These Parts!

On Friday night, the trailer for the third season of Game of Thrones premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Time to check in with our best friends over at Westeros and Essos, just trying to figure it out, one mistake at a time. They’re a little older, a little wiser, a little more totally psychotic and righteously bad-ass and how awesome was that Lightbringer. Also, dragons. Look at how big the dragons are! Read More

This is why you never sleep on a subway going through the aurora borealis (YouTube)

If These Men Were Cats, and This Train Was a Giant Cardboard Box, This Video Would Be Way More Adorable

TGIF, right? Sometimes you need to just take a giant nap on the floor of the subway because it’s late at night and apparently everyone else is asleep as well. OR: Another possibility is that the sleeping passengers were the only ones left after the L train went through the aurora borealis, which everyone knows from The Langoliers has the nasty side effect of erasing anyone who happens to be awake during impact. West Side Story won Best Picture. Remember??

How Many of These Best Picture Oscar Winners Can You Name? (Video)

With the Academy Awards looming in front of us this weekend like some long-awaited episode of Family Guy, it’s difficult to figure out what movie should win Best Picture. Will it be Lincoln, which is very long and serious and obviously a top contender for those very reasons? Or Silver Linings Playbook, which has Bradley Cooper (People‘s Sexiest Man, 2012) falling in love with Katniss? How about Argo, which is Affleck’s second best directorial effort of all time? Or Zero Dark Thirty? Life of Pi? Amour? (Follow-up question: Did anyone see Amour?) It’d be awesome if Best Picture went to Beasts of the Southern Wild, but can it win the Academy’s love over Django Unchained? (Please do not let it go to Django Unchained.)

When putting down money for your Oscar predictions, it’s always good to look at the past history of winners to see how the vote-makers will lean. Luckily, Nelson Carvajal has made a supercut of 84 years of Best Picture Winners. From Wings to On the Waterfront to The English Patient all the way up to last year’s winner, The Artist, see how many of these brilliant films you can name. Read More

A shot from Affleck's ) I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meat Hook, and Now I Have a Three-Picture Deal at Disney

Forget Argo; Check Out Affleck’s Directorial Debut Involving Lesbians, Meathooks, and Disney (Video)

We don’t want to give too much away about this tremendous discovery of Ben Affleck’s first stab at directing a film, so let’s just go with the title of the short from 1993: I Killed My Lesbian Wife, Hung Her on a Meat Hook, and Now I Have a Three-Picture Deal at Disney.

Great title. Almost a shame the studios changed it to Gone Baby Gone. Just kidding. This is a much more ridiculous film. It’s no The Town, is all we’re saying. Check out the entire 16-minute flick below. Read More

Zach Galifianakis Continues Oscar-Baiting in Between Two Ferns Sequel (Video)

Yesterday Zach Galifianakis and Scott Aukerman began their campaign to make the comedian next year’s Academy Awards host — at least, that’s what we hoped they were doing– with a celebrity-studded edition of the Funny or Die series, Between Two Ferns. Today, they released a follow-up with Bradley Cooper (who co-stars with Galifianakis in The Hangover franchise), Jessica Chastain, Sally Field, and Emmanuel Lewis. From Lincoln, remember? Read More

Who Needs Clothes in a Human Forest? Moncler Takes Fashion Week on a Trip to Remember (Video)

Moncler, the foremost design label for premier puffy coats and Fashion Week presentations involving people sculptures, held its exhibition in New York’s Gotham Hall Saturday night. It did not disappoint: The “Human Forest” show involved 370 boys and girls wearing the label lining up on different tiers underneath a mirrored ceiling, while flashing lights and a Star War-y soundtrack blared.

Of course, the biggest fans of Moncler that evening were the Brant brothers, who have yet to see a Fashion Week event that they couldn’t throw their teenaged two cents on. Read More

Wendy Diamond’s ‘Most Expensive’ Dog Wedding Gets An Insulting Drop-In (Video)

Shortly after The Observer wrote about Wendy Diamond’s plans to have her pooch Lucky get married in the most expensive doggie wedding in history, her terminally ill Maltese died and left the Animal Fair founder without a bride or groom for the alter. Making the best out of a bad situation, Ms. Diamond quickly adopted another doggie to wed off for charity, and the summer nuptials still made it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Not only did the wedding bring in its fair share of human VIPs like Bette Middler, but as it turns out, the ceremony was presided over by none other than Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, who appeared on Conan last week to review his footage from the event. Read More
