Because you just might fuck it up by yourself.

You know how people are always complaining that getting married in New York is too cheap these days? What with the variety of venues open year-round and the plummeting prices of caterers, diamonds, wedding planners and gown designers, it's like you can't even go into debt to show you care anymore!

Luckily, there's a new way for the fellas to make a small dent in their wallets before making a much larger dent in their life savings: hire BluePrint Proposals to plan your proposal for you.

Founded by Midwest natives Kym Pitlor and Erin Mavian, this "boutique event consultancy" will help you create an unforgettable New York experience for your partner, culminating in you asking her to marry you.

"I'm one of those girls who has 27 dresses in her closet as a bridesmaid," Ms. Pitlor told The Observer over the phone. "Erin and I were just the go-to girls for all our friends' engagement parties. We just saw the huge industry that wedding planning has become, and how often the men are left out of it. We thought it was time to give credit where credit is due, and let the man really shine."

And what better way to make a man stand out than for him to turn over the last vestige of free will he has in the prenuptial preparations to the lady experts? On BluePrint's website, men can fill out a quiz about themselves and their (hopefully) future spouse, including "What are five places in NYC that remind you of your partner?" "How would your partner choose to spend their birthday?" and "Have you given thought to a budget or how much you would like to spend on the proposal?" Then the BluePrint duo tabulate your responses and set you up with a consultation for a proposal planning, which could result in a flash mob, a helicopter ride over the city, a scavenger hunt or just a simple ring and candlelight dinner affair.

It doesn't have to gouge your pockets, either. For merely $250, Ms. Pitlor said, BluePrint will look at your results and offer you two creative ideas on how to propose, as well as the steps for how to do so. (Open box, get down on knee, etc.) If you want them to actually help out, however, the prices start at around $1,000. But for that money, the agency will take all the worrying off your hands and plan the whole damn thing for you.

"Everything from start to finish: travel arrangements, all the logistics, and, you know, there's tons of add-ons that we're happy to do as well. If you want a personal shopper the day before, or you need someone to help you buy the ring, we have those contacts as well."

For an example of a recent success story, Ms. Pitlor pointed to a gentleman who had wanted to have a sunset dinner at a hotel to pop the question. "We arranged the private photographer, the penthouse at the hotel, and then a dinner where six of her best friends were waiting. So it was a little engagement party afterward."

Which actually sounds quite lovely ... but what if she had said no? Blueprint's site claims it can "design a proposal guaranteed to make her say Yes." Was that actually possible?

"There's always that fear in the back of our head," Ms. Pitlor laughed. "As much as we say that we can guarantee a 'Yes' on our website, we don't actually have ... we're not actually mind readers."

Though they might be able to recommend you someone who is.

Remember how Alec Baldwin was supposed to elope with yoga instructor fiancee Hilaria Thomas after the Cannes Film Festival? Whatever happened with that?

Well, the date may finally be set on the New York ceremony, and  according to new gossip, it sounds less like an elopement and more like a full-blown Hollywood wedding. Oh, that wily Alec.

According to Page Six, Mr. Baldwin and Ms. Thomas have set their date as June 30th:

The couple will tie the knot at the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral on Mulberry Street in NoLIta, a landmarked church built in about 1810...The site has a Hollywood pedigree — it was where Francis Ford Coppola filmed the famous baptism scene in “The Godfather,” in which Al Pacino’s renunciation of Satan was intercut with the massacre of the Corleone family’s enemies.

Martin Scorsese used the church's walled graveyard for a scene in his breakout film, “Mean Streets,” and as a location in “Gangs of New York.”

But any Hollywood comparisons end there. Pope Benedict XVI bestowed basilica status on the historic house of worship in 2010.

That's a lot of history for one street! You'd think that when getting married, one would want to avoid all references to The Godfather and Mean Streets, but then again, we guess it's better than holding the ceremony in the sales office from Glengarry Glen Ross.

Kris Humphries is going to remain part of the Kardashian clan as long as he can: the New Jersey Nets player is refusing to sign the divorce papers on his 72-day marriage to Kim Kardashian until she "apologizes"for what he is claiming was a staged wedding and admits that their wedding was a for-profit only affair.

Several days ago, Mr. Humphries filed paperwork demanding to see how much money his wife "made" off their wedding and in the subsequent months. The New York Post has sources saying that for the NBA star, it's not all about the dollar$: Ms. Kardashian has allegedly offered $7 million for her separated hubby to "shut up and go away."

Collectively, we wouldn't mind pooling our money and making the same deal with the entire Kardashian family.

First there was the human microphone engagement. Today it was a Muslim wedding. Let's hope the next step is not a Occupy Wall Street divorce court.

Emery Abdel-Latif, 24, and Micha Balon, 19, joined together in holy union this Sunday afternoon, one month after meeting each other at the protest. (They were both trying to find a place to pray in the overcrowded park.) The wedding took place in Zuccotti's "sacred space"--located on the corner of Trinity Place and Liberty, across the street from the Burger King-- and was presided over by one of OWS' several chaplains, though the ceremony itself was a traditional Muslim service.

Why would anyone get married in NYC's premier tent town? As the blushing bride told the New York Daily News, "We met here and it’s cheap. We don’t have to pay anything."

That may sound flippant, but considering that booking a location for a New York wedding can take months (and sometimes years) of advance notification, Mr. Latif and Ms. Balon's quick turnaround time on executing a small outdoor service will turn the rest of the city's brides-to-be absolutely teal with envy.

Not to mention the cash factor: while Fox is reporting on couples who lost thousands when their perfect outdoor wedding was ruined by Hurricane Irene, OWS' kitchen didn't even charge a catering fee. Sure it might not have been the lavish engagement that some dream for, but what yesterday's ceremony and reception lacked in frills, it made up for in its lack of bridezillas, overbearing relatives, dress fittings, flower arrangements, wallet-gouging prices, and months of migraines. Plus? Free tents in case it rains and the added bonus of being able to use your nuptials to make a statement about America's crappy economy. And what little girl doesn't dream about the possibility of Michael Moore or Jesse Jackson showing up on her special day?

So is Zuccotti Park the new hot spot for tying the knot? That probably depends on how much you are willing to piss off your parents and future in-laws. But if you're down with simplicity and carrying the message (or were planning to elope anyway), why not make a statement and hold a 99%-themed wedding down at Occupy Wall Street? After all, that's one way to get your marriage in the paper without having to pay for it in The New York Times' weekend section.
