Barney Frank has been trying to chart a middle course in the fight for gay marriage, supporting same-sex unions while criticizing San Francisco’s not-quite-legal venture into marriage controversy.
Now Gay City News is reporting that the Massachusetts Congressman had some unkind words for Mike, who has tried to set out a similarly nuanced position.
“The best way to win same-sex marriage—through the courts and politically—is when you’re defending a reality. That’s where Bloomberg undermined us,” Frank said.
Perhaps Mike and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom can find common ground when they share a stage at the New School’s Milano School of Management on March 30, where Mike is slated to give opening remarks.
