The Observer and others have raised questions about people donating to NYC2012 in order to influence Dan Doctoroff, so we asked him about that when he sat down with the Press of Southeast Queens/Queens Tribune (Azi’s day job) at a diner in College Point. He sharply denied the claim.
“Nothing makes me angrier for example, [than] when somebody walks into my office attempting to curry favor wearing a 2012 pin,” said Doctoroff, momentarily ignoring the plate of French fries and onion rings in front of him. “It’s obvious that’s what they’re trying to do.”
After declining to name who specifically donned the 2012 apparel for those reasons, Doctoroff added, “[In] some cases it’s genuine,” and asserted, “You get nothing for donating to 2012.”
