El Diario is just full of politics these days. Today, the paper reports that Assemblyman Adriano Espaillat, in the process of picking up expected endorsements for his run for Manhattan Borough President, said he’s “still not sure” that he’s running.
If he doesn’t, it will upset a lot of other candidates’ delicate ethnic calculations, and would seem to be good news for Mike’s favorite City Councilwoman (who once insisted to us, by the way, on “councilwoman” over some gender-neutral formulation).
UPDATE: Or maybe not. Espaillat spokesman Joel Barkin emails that “We are definitely not uncertain. We are going to be making an official announcement in a couple of weeks. We just launched our website, making all the rounds and fundraising very hard. At the last filing we were third in most money raised.”
