You know you’re in trouble when the local news reporters bring two cameras, one to film the story, the other to film the reporter.
WNBC Channel 4’s Tim Minton had two at Virginia Fields‘ damage-controlfest on the City Hall Steps today, where Fields read a long statement from her direct mail consultant taking the blame for a “composite” photograph of the candidate with a diverse group of citizens. It was all very, very serious.
“I know all of them except the two Asians,” Fields found herself saying of the group in the photograph.
And the big local television contingent added its own kind of gravitas.
“Madam President,” Minton demanded of Fields. “Who in the campaign knew what when?”
