Randi Weingarten, the teachers union president, occupies one of the most complicated positions in this mayor’s race. She’s a valuable ally to any pol, but her first priority has to be her members’ contract.
Randi dropped some interesting hints in an interview with WNBC’s Melissa Russo that aired last night, offering little encouragement to the Democrats who have been courting her:
“I think its going to be an uphill battle for any of the Democrats to win,” she said at one point.
And don’t hold your breath on an endorsement: “The easiest thing I could do to derail any potential contract negotiations would be to do some kind of endorsement right now.”
