Air Freddy

Ferrer is unveiling 30-second ads in Spanish and English today, along with radio spots.

The Politicker is told not to expect anything unexpected. They’re bio ads, as is typical, and they focus on his gritty upbringing in the Bronx.

The point of ads like this, though, isn’t just to introduce Freddy. It’s also to frame an argument against Bloomberg, one based on this theme we’ve heard periodically from Ferrer about the city’s middle class getting squeezed. His biography, under this theory, puts him in a position to understand New Yorkers’ travails as Mike can’t.
