Now Pataki finds himself under attack in the paper’s Lifestyle section. That’s right: The governor’s not even safe in The Post‘s doughy middle section.

Look around any New York restaurant, and you can spot one: He’s the straight-laced, nice-guy type with the slightly bored-looking date.

“Baxters overdo it,” says Showalter. “The Baxter is the guy who’s going to take a girl to the best restaurant in town, having no clue if it’s appropriate for her. All that matters is, it’s the best. Anything recommended as the most romantic place, that’s where you’ll find the Baxter.”
