One veteran of city politics weighed in with this thought-provoking response to the Observer’s current lead story:
“The problem is that everybody appears to be equally stupid, and we’re not actually equally stupid. Some of us are stupid in different ways or stupider than others, and if everybody in an article looks like an idiot, it’s like, what’s the point? When everyone is blenderized into being a shmuck, why bother running or why bother reporting?
“The press has to stop showing how smart they are by exposing how stupid every candidate is — because we’re really not all the same.”
