Hurricane Katrina: Cosmetic Fixes

If your house is underwater and you’re exhausted by, say, a long day of scrabbling for wet bread amidst dead bodies in the New Orleans streets-turned-canals, you may be relieved to know that help—beauty help—is here.

On August 30th, 2005, e.l.f. Cosmetics received an email from one of their customers. She was contacting the company to tell them to put a stop on her order because she had lost everything in Hurricane Katrina. In response, e.l.f. Cosmetics immediately shipped her a package of make-up brushes and cosmetics to her current location.

And e.l.f. can help you too, dear New Orleanian!

In response to the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina, e.l.f. Cosmetics has created 10,000 special Hurricane Katrina Relief Kits that include pressed powder, shimmering facial whip for the eyes, lips and face, lip moisturizer, lip gloss, and mascara. This relief kits will be shipped to people directly affected by the hurricane in an effort to get people back on track.

Proof of residence may be required, notes the press release. Yeah…

If you can figure out how to get mail in New Orleans—since, you know, you probably don’t have power, a place to sleep, or anything to eat—or if you’re relocated, homeless, and feeling under-madeup, why not make contact? You can email or call them on 800.231.4732 x111. We’re sure they’d love to hear from you.
