So just how tiny was the final margin between Freddy and forty?
Today, the board of elections certified it at .15 percent. That’s around 720 votes.
On Friday, an AP recount of vote totals announced that, with 183, 209 votes, Freddy was over the hump by just .048 percent… which amounted to approximately 220 votes.
Last Wednesday, after the polls closed on last Wednesday’s primary, Freddy was about 250 votes shy of 40 percent.
And with all the margin for error and manipulation a that exists in New York’s clunky, manual vote-counting process, it’s hard not to wonder what numbers would have emerged under the watchful eyes of not one but two campaigns.
