Without overly raising the hopes of oft-disappointed Democrats, it’s worth noting that Freddy should be taking some comfort in the last pre-primary poll.
The Bloomberg inevitability buzz, the ad barrage, and the Mayor’s high favorable ratings got Mike a bare 50% of the vote against Freddy’s 38%, according to the NY1/Newsday survey.
If the usual pattern holds, the next poll — the first with Ferrer as nominee — will show an even smaller lead for the Mayor.
And suddenly, we’ll have a race on our hands. Or, at least, a round of stories saying, “Suddenly, we have a race on our hands.”
