Word that Freddy has reserved the steps of City Hall Friday at 3 p.m. has some wondering — again — whether this, finally, is the Sharpton endorsement?
One reader, however, points out a crucial fact about the Sharpton endorsement: the bottom line is not what the endorsement will do for Freddy, but what it will do for Al. A lot depends on what the Rev. will have seemed to have done come next Tuesday.
Which is to say that the Rev is unlikely to endorse Freddy before the primary if Freddy will wind up in a run-off anyway; if, however, Sharpton can plausibly claim credit for having pushed him over 40%, expect an endorsement.
Which is why The Politicker probably isn’t the only one puzzling over polls today.
