Some members of the Cherry Hill Republican County Committee are facing criticism from a party leader over their lack of support for the GOP Council candidates. Richard Ambrosino, a Trenton lobbyist andformer state GOP official who is now the Cherry Hill Republican Municipal Vice Chairman, says that County Committee members not willing to contribute $100 each to the local campaign should resign.

Committee Members: Our Council candidates — Marty Babitz, Chris Hammerquist and Bob Cardea — have been working tirelessly all summer and fall. They have raised more money to date than candidates over the last three election cycles and have knocked on nearly 2,000 doors. We have an impressive and aggressive voter contact and GOTV plan in place for the final weeks of this campaign. Of course, most of you wouldn’t know that since most of you have not helped at all. As Members of the Cherry Hill Republican Committee all of us were elected to represent the GOP electorate in our community, first and foremost by helping to elect quality Republican candidates. As a group, we have failed miserably over the years to meet that first obligation of our elected office. This year, we have a unique opportunity to change that. Control of Council is at stake. The local Democrats are divided. Doug Forrester continues to surge in the polls. County Chairwoman Gail Peterson, impressed by the hard work of our candidates and our team, has contributed $3,000 to our election fund. Unfortunately, many of you cannot be included in receipt of the Chairwoman’s praise. A call went out last week from our Chairman to man phone banks, which was answered by less than six of you. Previous calls for contributions and time have, likewise, been answered by only a very small group of committed Committee members, those who continuously answer the call for time, money and support. As you should all know, we will be holding a cocktail reception in honor of our Council candidates next Monday, October 24 from 6:30 ? 8:30 p.m. at Olive Restaurant with special guest, Congressman Jim Saxton. Every Committee member is expected to attend and bring a check for $100 made payable to CHRO. At a minimum, I expect that if you cannot attend, your contribution to CHRO will be forthcoming, if you have not already contributed. If not, I would expect that your resignation from the County Committee would be forthcoming in its place, allowing us to appoint new members willing to more actively take up our cause for better government in Cherry Hill Township. Should you chose to do neither, you can be assured that you will not be recommended for re-election to the County Committee when we re-organize next spring. I thank those who have worked so hard this year and in the past and am hopeful that those who have not yet had the opportunity to join with us in strong support of Marty, Chris and Bob will now take this opportunity to do so as we enter the home stretch. Rich Ambrosino Vice-Chairman CHRO (609) 396-0700 office (609) 828-3192 – cell
