“This rain is killing me,” said Park Slope mom Heidi Fischer, 29, who spent the summer taking her bruiser of a firstborn on picnics in Prospect Park. Ms. Fischer, who teaches English as a second language in downtown Brooklyn, is naturally organized, but now, she said, “the lists are out the window—the structure is gone.” Her husband of two years, Simon Weaver, 30, is used to the hideous weather: He’s a Brit! (That their tyke, whose hair has gone from monkish to punkish, arrived on Independence Day “seemed a funny sort of jab,” Ms. Fischer said.) Though Mr. Weaver works in the advertising department at the Corcoran Group, the family has so far been roughing it with a co-sleeper in their one-bedroom apartment, even though little Billy has already doubled in size.
