A Federal Court Judge has approved a transfer for Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant Steven Caldwell, allowing the Republican to resume his bid for Sheriff in next week’s election. Caldwell, who is challenging his boss, incumbent James McGettingan, had been forced to leave the race last week after a ruling that his salary came from federal funds — making him ineligible to seek public office under the Hatch Act.
