This new state politics blog — whose reliability I have no way to evaluate — says there’s buzz in Conservative Party circles that Ed Cox might return to the Senate race. (The item also has some stuff about wire-tapping that, I hasten to note, I’m not endorsing.)

Anyway, I mention it only because I emailed Cox about it last night, and today got a call from Albany from his campaign spokesman, Tom Basile. Which was kind of striking, considering I didn’t think Cox still had a campaign, much less a campaign spokesman. In Albany.

And Basile was less than totally direct in his response to the question of whether Cox would get back in.

“I have no information about anything,” he said. “It’s unfortunate that the potential nominee has to be subjected to these rumors because of the state of her campaign, but that’s how it goes.”

Hmm.
