Cato off the Reservation

The libertarian policy institute’s program for today’s gathering at the Waldorf makes it clear that there’s one person libertarian conservatives like less than Eliot Spitzer: George W. Bush. If you’re looking for a conservative crack-up story, the meeting is probably a good place to start.

Some sample topics: “The Decline and Fall of the GOP,” “Bush Conservatism and the Constitution,” and “Imposter: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy,” a talk by apostate economist Bruce Bartlett on his new book.

It’s not just Bush’s liberal critics who are feeling emboldened lately, it seems.
