Who’s winning the battle of the front pages?

Is $2.69 supposed to be a good bargain for tragedy? Or a shockingly low price? Would it have been less appalling if a child had burned down a crowded, illegally subdivided house with a nice $34.59 Italian Candlelighter from Hammacher Schlemmer?

But these are idle questions. Whatever’s wrong with the Daily News (and isn’t “BLOWN AWAY” a little…gleeful?), at least the paper was able to put two stories on the front page without creating a monstrously tasteless juxtaposition. DEAD ON ARRIVAL? Nice shootin’, Mr. Chapman!
