The people behind Colors, the new restaurant owned cooperatively by former Windows on the World employees, scraped together $2.2 million in order to open tomorrow. Organizer Saru Jayaraman pointedly reminds New Yorkers that she had tried, time and again, to get some of the $2 billion that the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation had to give out. She tells Crain’s, “No banks would provide loans to this restaurant…. And L.M.D.C. did not either.”
