Jane Harnick is a photo-shoot producer for Ralph Lauren—but rearing her button-nosed firstborn hasn’t exactly been picture-perfect so far. “I sort of had this vision,” said Ms. Harnick, 40. “I imagined my child was going to sleep through the night immediately, but who am I kidding? You’re literally up all night the first few nights. In the beginning, there’s so much responsibility to get used to, and it can be really scary.” Luckily, her husband of four months, Adam Freifeld, 39, a freelance sports publicist, is able to field the occasional diaper and particularly loves rocking his little bundle to sleep every night. “He was home for the first seven weeks, and it was so great to have him here, because he’s rock solid,” said the new mom, whose inner calm has also been enhanced by post-natal yoga at the Prenatal Yoga Center on the Upper West Side, where the family shares a one-bedroom. “It’s getting a little cramped,” Ms. Harnick admitted.
