McCormac having trouble raising money

Former State Treasurer John McCormac is trying to raise money for his Woodbridge Mayoral campaign from the State Street crowd

Former State Treasurer John McCormac is trying to raise money for his Woodbridge Mayoral campaign from the State Street crowd he met in Trenton, but he’s having limited success. It seems that lobbyists and interest groups are putting their checkbooks away after learning that playing in the Woodbridge local race would most definitely annoy Woodbridge State Senator Joseph Vitale, the Deputy Majority Leader and the powerful Chairman of the Senate Health Committee, other legislators, party leaders, and a majority of local County Committee members who are likely to support the popular incumbent, Frank Pelzman, in the 2007 Democratic primary. McCormac’s campaign won’t be helped by today’s news stories that three of his top department heads are being investigated for accepting gifts while on his watch.
