The only mother-daughter combination to serve in the New Jersey Legislature were both Democrats from Hudson County. Marian Urbanski, a 36-year-old Jersey City Democratic Committeewoman, was elected to the State Assembly in 1925, the first Polish American to win election to the Legislature. Her daughter, 35-year-old attorney Eugenia Urbanski-Courtney, was elected in 1946. Some pundits specualte that the best chance for another mother-daughter legislator is in Atlantic County, where newly-elected Freeholder Alisa Beth Cooper is a possible Democratic Assembly candidate in 2007. Her mother, Republican Delores Cooper, represented the second district in the State Assembly from 1983 to 1992.
