It seems like there really are Republicans who are taking conservative assemblyman Pat Manning‘s gubernatorial bid seriously, like the guy who wants his assembly seat.

Betsy Brilliant, the GOP chair in Dutchess County told one paper, “I don’t see where we have any choice but to take Pat at his word, and if we have a candidate or candidates that are interested in pursuing a seat, we have to consider them.”

This should force Pat to say which seat he’s committed to running for: the one in the assembly or the one in the governor’s mansion.

The Dutchess GOP will endorse an Assembly candidate on April 27.
