Makor on Market

The 92nd Street Y is putting the Steinhardt Building, 35 W. 67th St., on the market. The Y’s Makor (the name is trademarked, by the way) will move to a temporary location and then eventually to the Y’s Upper East Side headquarters, as part of the Jewish institution’s “decision to increase its focus on young adults, including young Jews,” according to a press release from its broker, CB Richard Ellis. But somehow we think that is not the only reason. The five-story double townhouse, down the street from Cafe des Artistes, was valued at $16 million when the Y acquired it through a donation five years ago.
