Entering the White House press room today, Tony Snow commented that it was nice to be in a warm space. “My office is freezing.” David Frum makes the same point in The Right Man, his (sometimes-charming) memoir of working for W, where he observes that the Oval Office is “frigid.”

The temperature of the room is surpisingly arctic: closer to sixty-five than seventy degrees, I would guess, in both summer and winter

It’s good to hear that they keep the White House cold in winter. But in Washington that doesn’t mean much. They should set an example, and let it stay warmish in summer too.
