A new Siena College poll has Eliot Spitzer coasting to victory by a nearly 50-point margin over John Faso, and reinforces the notion of Democratic dominance in all other races.
The poll seemed to suggest implicitly that the primaries are foregone conclusions as well, measuring the strength among registered voters of Spitzer, Andrew Cuomo, Hillary Clinton and Alan Hevesi against their prospective Republican opponents without making mention in the release of, say, Tom Suozzi or Mark Green.
And in an extra vote of confidence for George Pataki as he continues his presidential exercise, nearly three-quarters of respondents said they felt that a new governor would make New York a better place. His approval ratings were measured at 41-49, an improvement from the last Siena poll in May.
