It was designed by Wilson Eyre in 1904, for starters; it stretches over seven Southampton acres; it’s on Quantuck Bay (“in the legendary yachting community of Quiogue”); its lighting was designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany; and its architecture typifies the turn-of-the-century Arts and Crafts Movement.
And there’s more: due to a mysterious “confusion in the market as to the seller’s expectations”–according to auctioneer Sheldon Good–the sealed bid deadline for the estate has been pushed back to September 14, 2006.
If you happen to be a multimillionaire with money to spend on 1904 waterfront Hamptons estates, there’s even more good news: the reserve price has been made public–and it’s a mere $12.5 million.
