James Victore plants them where he can
The soil on 42nd Street, we hear, is not good for planting. Actually, it’s non-existent. So the Times Square Alliance, along with the New York chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and Worldstudio Foundation, is using lampposts instead. Next Thursday, 186 banners designed by artists all over the world will be unfurled, all of them “using the idea of a tree as their inspiration,” according to the press release. It is called “The Urban Forest Project,” and afterwards, Jack Spade will turn them all into tote bags to be auctioned off for scholarship and mentoring programs.
