The Wrong Kind of Coverage

Whatever kind of local coverage George Pataki generates today during his visit to New Hampshire, he’ll have to hope it’s better than this: an AP story headlined “Pataki Off on Latest Political Foray; Dems Scoff.”

Mark Humbert gives the lede quote to Howard Wolfson, who says of Pataki that he has “zero chance” of becoming president and that “he is the only one who takes his candidacy seriously.”

Wolfson, who is working for a different statewide official with fairly good propsects for re-election this year, then proceeds to twist the knife:

“You cannot run for president as the failed governor of the state. He couldn’t get re-elected governor, how can he possibly think he could get elected president? What record is he going to run on?”
