KRISTINA: The first rule of bridal shoe shopping, in case you didn’t know, is that you cannot try the shoes on with bare feet, because white satin is a dirt magnet and you’ll instantly see toe marks once you put it on your dirty little foot.
So to begin my shoe shopping expedition, I chose six or seven candidates and settled down in my chair, bright orange peds in hand.
As I slid the first slinky, satin shoe on my foot, over the ped, I couldn’t help but think of my dear grandmas, both of them, who always had some sort of hosiery on their feet, regardless of the season or the heat index.
I repeated this action several times before settling on a pair that I didn’t really even like that much but found to be very comfortable.
White shoes are something I never thought I’d own. Now I have two little boats for my feet.
