“I’m sorry about the congressman” were the first words from Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz to a representative of New York Aids Coalition at an event yesterday criticizing cutbacks in HIV/AIDS funding.
Markowtiz and NYAC said they learned Towns couldn’t attend the event that morning. The congressman’s chief of staff, Val Henry, said Towns was “at the Democratic caucus of the Energy and Commerce committee speaking on this very issue.”
There was not such a good excuse to explain why Towns skipped a debate last week with his Democratic primary opponents at NY1.
“I wasn’t familiar with that debate,” Henry said.
