From today’s Daily News endorsement of Yvette Clarke.

The race has drawn attention because the field has one white and three black candidates, triggering charges that the white contestant, Councilman David Yassky, is taking advantage of a divided black vote in a largely minority district. The four contenders have approached the issue with a notable lack of inflammatory politics.

From last months’ Times endorsement of David Yassky:

Ms. Clarke has been among the most vocal critics of Mr. Yassky, whose entry in the race she ascribed to some sort of anti-black motive rather than what was clearly the attraction of a rare open seat. Representative Owens also set a mean tone early on, calling Mr. Yassky a “colonizer.”
