Beth Israel Hospital

Pregnant Shannon Pincham was drifting in and out of sleep, dreaming that she was having contractions. “It must be that I really want it to happen,” she mumbled to herself. At 3 in the morning, it suddenly dawned on her that this was the real thing: time to dial the doula! Arriving at the hospital with her husband of three years, Bryce Pincham, in tow, Ms. Pincham discovered that she was eight centimeters dilated, and an hour later she gave birth to this ruby-lipped, brunette little beauty, who is easily mollified by Smart Art flashcards. “If you can get her to look at the cards, there’s no longer crying, there’s just amazement,” said Ms. Pincham, 33, an agent for Ray Brown Productions who works with makeup artists and stylists. Mr. Pincham, also 33, is a freelance photographer, affording him plenty of time for diaper duty. Little Isabella has her own room in the glam couple’s Fort Greene two-bedroom, but—of course—prefers to sleep with her parents. “Until recently, you couldn’t lay her down anywhere unless it was on someone’s chest,” Mom said.
