Lautenberg helps New Jerseyans watch Rutgers football

Both of New Jersey’s United States Senators are claiming credit for what is likely to be a popular decision among New Jerseyans: the National Football League is allowing cable television stations to broadcast the December 28th Texas Bowl between Rutgers University’s Scarlet Knights and Kansas State University’s Wildcats. Frank Lautenberg, put pressure on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell; he serves on the Senate panel that regulates cable and broadcast television. “Sen. Lautenberg asked, and we listened,” NFL Network spokesman Seth Palansky told Gannett. Robert Menendez, in a statement issued yesterday, said he “spoke” with Goodell earlier in the day.
