A City Council source just confirmed a tip from one of our commenters that one of Council’s central staffers, Fredy Kaplan, resigned recently.
The source also said that Kaplan, who worked on the council’s Economic Development Committee, was hired by Patricia Lynch Associates, the Albany powerhouse firm started by one of Sheldon Silver’s closest aides.
The commenter, who appears to be somewhat in the loop on this one, also predicted that Kaplan’s departure “will be the beginning of a long list of staffers to soon resign from Quinn’s office.”
Update: The item was changed to reflect that Kaplan was counsel to the Economic Development Committee and did not report directly to the Speaker.
